Excellent thoughts! I didn't know people thought the Palestinians are decended from the caananites. A large majority of them moved to Israel from surrounding countries for jobs when the jews began really revitalizing the land around the late 1800's. That's why they are often from different tribes and don't get along with each other.
On posts by people with Arabic-sounding names I have seen the claim, “I am descended from Canaanites.” I also saw a long, academic-sounding post about Canaanite literature being pre-eminent in the region. Never heard about any Canaanite literature, and my formal secular education delved deeply into the rise of literacy and law, beginning with the Mesopotamians, and never read one word about Canaanite literature—but in the same region, Hebrew literature still flourished and is cherished by billions of people around the globe, Jew, Christian and Muslim.
